Jessica Burke
Founding President and Chair of History Committee
Jessica founded Friends of Crocheron & John Golden Park in 2020, in response to the New York City government's budget constraints and to prevent disrepair to Crocheron & John Golden Park during an unprecedented time. Jessica has been working with both NYC Parks and Partnership for Parks to develop the organization and grow the membership base. Along with community organizing, she is working as the organization's graphic designer and web designer. Growing up in Bayside, her fondest childhood memories are of PS 41 Field Days on the John Golden ball fields.
Prior to starting Friends of Crocheron & John Golden Park, she worked at non-profit organizations in New York City and St. Louis, working currently as an Executive Assistant. She obtained a Master's in International Crime and Justice from John Jay College of Criminal Justice , where she first beame interested in public goods, through writing about the corruption and the privatization of water, and the importance of maintaining public stewardship in a climate which supports the neoliberal 'sell off' these goods. She uses her unique combination of skills, along with a background in history, sociology, and computer graphics, to steward the grassroots group. Jessica is a neighborhood resident and a member of NYC Queens Community Board 11. She frequents Crocheron with her dog and family.
